Description:
Bipedal felines, is the best way to describe the toimendos. They come in a full range of colours. If you can think of a feline breed, there is an equivalent for this species. They have four fingers on each hand, and four toes on each foot. Both sexes tend to sport a mane on their head, though some keep their manes short or shaven for simplicity sake. It's not uncommon to find crossbreeds, and there are regional variants, depending on the climate. The manes can be of the same colour as the fur, or a degree darker or lighter.
Lifespan:
Female: Child: 1-5 | Adolescent: 5-10 | Adult: 10-60 | Old: 60-
Male: Child: 1-5 | Adolescent: 5-10 | Adult: 10-60 | Old: 60-
Note: Toimendos mature twice as quickly as the other species, but also stay in adulthood longer.
Normally, a toimendos will refer to "toimendos years" when telling other species their age, since some species think it's odd they grow so fast. So a toimendos that is 10, might say they're 20 toimendos years old.
Height:
1,40m-1,80m.
Size: Medium.
Diet:
Carnivore.
Toimendos are primarily carnivores, but they can eat some treated vegetables.
Racial Magic:
Toimendos do not possess any racial magic.
Earthly Domain:
Toimendos belong to the Meleksopok territory, which neighbours the Zain territory. They make their homes in the trees, or by riversides there. For toimendos in other regions, they tend to live in pre-established communities by the other species.
Areas they frequent:
Toimendos can be found everywhere on Shareen.
Society:
This is the fastest growing population on all of the worlds. They live primarily in huge packs, or tribes, with several leaders for one large group. In their homelands, they still prefer living in tree huts, or on riverboats. They live modest lives, not needing or making more than what they need. Toimendos who have emigrated to other territories, will try and adapt to their culture as much as they can without sacrificing their personal beliefs.
The toimendos have a very relaxed relationship to love and commitment, but are quick to respect personal boundaries.
A still current problem for the species is their ever-growing families. A hangover habit from the old world is to "give the young back" to nature, by abandoning unwanted kittens in the wild. This comes from how when a toimendos dies, it is respectful to the Mother, their deity, to give the dead body back to nature, and let it become part of the circle once more. In their minds, they are giving their young back to the Mother.
Toimendos is the most equal opportunity-minded of the species on Shareen. It doesn't matter if you are man, woman, or something undefined. What matters to them is that you wish to do your part and contribute to their tribe. It creates some trouble when they first encounter species and cultures other than their own, which have stricter gender roles.
Birth:
Toimendos don't make a big fuss over having children. They give birth very easily, name the kittens once they open their eyes (3 weeks old) and continue their day to day life. Some toimendos nurse their own, while others give their kittens to a nursery, which handles it for them while they are out, giving the babies back at the end of the day.
Coming of age:
Toimendos grow to maturity way quicker than other species. The different tribes have different ways of celebrating coming of age. Some simply get sorted from the nursery huts and taken to be taught about the different roles to be filled.
Finding a mate:
A Toimendos looking for a mate will either join a pre-existing family group, or court a single individual on their own. Sex and gender matters little to them. There is not a lot of courting involved, but this depends on the individual.
Toimendos women do not grow breasts during their puberty, but rather grows them once they become pregnant. The breasts remain even after the children are weaned off the milk, sort of to show that she is now a mother.
Burial:
Believing in the way of the land and forest, toimendos will leave dead bodies out for other bigger prey. This is because they believe this is respectful to the Mother, and that the dead are re-entering the circle of life.
So toimendos do not burn, or bury their dead. But they do stay clear of the meadows where the dead are delivered to
Alliance:
Toimendos ally themselves with all the species. They can stand with the konac as hunters, with the likan as dignitaries, and the maremis, filling in the role as a jack of all trades.
Religion:
The toimendos believe that they all originate from the same source, the same Mother. This Mother, of an undefined breed. A great darkness, The Night, came to her, and they had 9 daughters. These were the original nine breeds, that the toimendos would come from. After the 9 daughters had given live to the different breeds, The Night came down once more, and took the Mother and their daughters back up into their Darkness, where the daughters became The Nine Sisters, creating the first 9 constellations.
The toimendos do respect the isphers, and will have one or two individuals who gathers offerings from the tribe and makes sure the isphers are placated.
Reproduction:
Toimendos can carry up to 8 kittens, due to the kittens being really small when they're delivered. It's the female of the species that carries the kittens, but both parents care for the young. The female is ready for conception once a month, and is pregnant for 3 months.
(Basically imagine earth cat breeds if you want to. No colours like pink or such fur colours that wouldn't occur with our own cats.)
Eye colour has a chance of being passed down. There is a greater chance for the father's eyes to be passed down, but 60%.
Fur colour has a chance of being passed down. Darker furs tend to be passed down more often, about 60%.
Tail style and fur length tends to be 50/50, and there is also a chance of the fur having mixed patterns if both parents have patterns.
Names:
Toimendos don't differentiate between what makes a name female or male. All their names are unisex.
The last name is usually the tribe name from which the Toimendos came from. This name is from their tribe leader. If a Toimendos leaves a tribe, they may chose to just leave the tribe name behind as well, and either make their own last name, or only have their given/taken name.
A Toimendos is given a name by their parents. But as adults they can choose to shed their childhood name and take a new one that they feel suits them more.
Toimendos combo the two words to become one word.
Ex: Arideh, coming from Ari in the A column, and Deh in the B column. The name means Honest river.

Canon ocs, already established, so try not to use these. You can, but know these are character names in my comic/stories.
Arideh - "Honest River" - Arideh is the secondary main character of my webcomic "Shareen Unleashed."
Finbwe - "Curious Melody" - Finbwe is a toimendos name given to a nim that Arideh has bonded with.
Ceruno - "Timid Meadow" - Ceruno was a character from my test comic, "Hibane!"
